Imbolc is upon us

Love the spring feel of this deck

“Imbolc symbolizes the halfway point between the winter solstice (Yule) and tImbolc symbolizes the halfway point between the winter solstice (Yule) and the spring equinox (Ostara). The word “imbolc” means “in the belly of the Mother,” because the seeds of spring are beginning to stir in the belly of Mother Earth”.  This is what pops up if you type what is Imblc into Google. Not to shabby Google.

The Goddess has the seed of life within her and she is a promise thar the spring will come again and renew the earth’s fields, forests, warmth, and the sea will flow freely once more. This gives us hope to continue through the second half of winter for we see the light at the end of the tunnel. This Pagan holiday is usually celebrated on Feb 1st through the evening of the 2nd. Some call this the festival of lights or the Christian adaptation is Candlemas.

Light the way to green pastures sweet mother, sweet mother

From my own BOS (book of shadows) Lavender and white candles are burned, this is a great time to spring clean as well will be welcoming the season soon enough. The holiday celebration is for fertility and to rejoice for all things yet to be born. Take note of what your magickal cabinet needs now to be organized for growing season. Altar decor is spring colors, dried corn cobs, candles, and as always cakes and ale.

Dried corn cobs

If you have three dried corn stocks one each to represent the maiden, mother, and crone. Tie them together with spring colored ribbons and display it outside your home the days of Imbolc and then bury it on your property for protection and prosperity for the rest of the coming year. If you don’t have dried corn use another representation of the triple Goddess.

How do you celebrate? If you don’t what do you think of these traditional actions. How does your family mark the changes in the seasons? Let me know below.

Blessed be ❤️

True Scary Stories #7 (Possession attempt?) TW: self harm and animal abuse

What strikes the deepest fear within you?

High school love is beautiful and sometimes darker than you think. I dated the same guy from my sophomore year of high school til mid way through my bachelor’s degree. I won’t share his name here but if you know me from high school you know him. Well this is but one paranormal happening during our five plus year relationship. If I remember correctly it was our first summer off together since starting to date.

I was a budding Wiccan and was cleansing and purifying myself and friends and asked him if he’d let me try to cleanse him. He agreed but let me know he had been worshipping demons in his back yard and harming himself and his pets. I told him he had to let those negative energies and actions go so I cast circle while my parents weren’t home anointed him in clove oil making an equal armed cross… I prayed for the evil influences to leave him and I alone, that they had no home with us. I dusted him in blessed salt water as demon’s cannot stand its touch.

He tells them to leave also that he’s trying to be a better person for me and his future. He says he does want to hurt anyone or anything. We sit in silence together for a bit and let the candles burn down. I take down circle and we continue watching TV together until he walks home for dinner. I remember it was good and bad that we lived so close. So I had dinner with my folks and went to bed after watching a few things on my DVR. I was roiling over in bed and felt a hand that was not my own grab upwards between my legs. I thought it was odd but my brain did what all brains do and explained it away.

I eventually fell asleep and I awoke some time later to my mom calling my name from the door that connected our rooms. She was asking me if I was okay and for some reason I wasn’t even aware but I was responding that I was fine. I was not fine! I felt an oppressive force above me that felt thick… my mom came into my room and drug me out of my room as soon as I crossed the threshold to her room I could breathe again. I cleared my mind and she turned on all the lights and I believe her want to protect me saved me from an entity that night and I will never forget it.

Welcome to October’s Book Club 📖

This is October’s book.

Yay we get to strat reading tomorrow! I know I’m excited and I hope you are too. Remember I will post brief updates about where I am in the book throughout the month but probably no more than two shorter hot take kinda blogs.

I will be doing weekly discussions as well as saying how I feel about things I read as we go throughout the weeks. Then at the months end we will do a Q&A chat over what we all thought about the book on my FanHouse. FanHouse is an app where content creators are in control of their content, with guidelines, and their pay. I keep 90% of whatever I earn on FanHouse. If you’d like to get a month free though use code: covencat to join in on all the talks.

I love memes 🤣

I hope we get to have some good conversations soon. Thank you for participating.

Blessed be ❤

Book Club book for October 🎃 👻 🧙‍♀️

Everyday Witchcraft by Deborah Blake.

In an effort to help others learn more about witchcraft, in a constructive and comfortable manner, I’ve decided to start a monthly book club. The book club will have a variety of books covering craft and sometimes non craft topics that will help myself and others incorporate the craft and spirituality into our everyday lives. I chose this book as the first for the club because it is a very practical book for adding a little magick back into our lives on a daily basis.

I love how Ms. Blake acknowledges that in this day and age we are lucky if we can make time for hobbies and self care, let alone our spiritual faith compared to all the other requirements of life to function. She shows us that spirituality can be achieved in a work break, while cooking dinner, we just have to make the mundane into magick. Witchcraft doesn’t have to be elaborate, intentions are key, and faiths comfort can be woven into our daily lives.

Witchy vibes.

I invite anyone interested to connect with me if you’d like to discuss this book or if you have suggestions for later months. I will be running an ongoing discussion as I read this title on my FanHouse, just search WitchCorabell on the fanhouse site or app. I also offer tarot card readings and monthly witch lessons. I’m building a diverse supportive witchy community who uplift eachother as we learn together.

Blessed be ❤

Mabon blessings!

Bonfires at the house on the weekends soon.

First day of Fall!!! My favorite season, honestly the whole families choice season. We will be getting outside more, watching people from the porch, and venturing into public. What has the power to get us outside? The smell of fall leaves, mischief, crisp apples, cider slushies, the chilly night air, and spooky game/movie season.

My altar holds fall colors red, yellow, orange, and brown. Usually I’d decorate with actual fall leaves but this season is a bit late. We also have an apple spice candle going to warm the home and fill the space with positive vibes. As the second harvest festival we get flavorful foods like pumpkins, apples, gourds, and squash right now. I love apple mainly so pumpkin spice lattes are lost on me but Joe makes up for my non-consumption.

We are thankful for what the year so far has brought us and think of what we is to come as the wheel completes another turn. In my family we have a hearty and well loved meal the evening of Mabon and light candles in the evening to soothe and repel negative energies around our most lived in spaces. This is also a good night for cleansing and reprogramming crystals you’ve gathered over the Spring and Summer.

Reminds me of my childhood home.

I hope some people are also experiencing a slight lift in mood as the weather in the majority of the U.S turns to Fall and we welcome cooler days and nights. Today listening to the rain and playing some games was very relaxing. How did you welcome the Fall today? What are you thankful for so far this year?

Blessed be ❤

Major Arcana 19 The Sun

This is my favorite card so far in this deck.

The card heralds good fortune, happiness, joy and harmony. It represents the universe coming together and shining on your path and aiding forward movement into greater things. The Sun card represents success, plenty, and radiance. Like the sun itself, it gives strength and vitality to all lucky enough to feel its rays. There is much joy and happiness coming your way. Because of your own personal fulfillment, you provide others with inspiration and joy. People are drawn to you because they are capable of seeing the warmth and radiant energy which you bring into people’s lives. You are also in a position in which you are capable of sharing your qualities as well as achievements with others. You radiate love and affection to those you care for the most. The card shows that you have a significant sense of deserved confidence right now. Life is currently particularly good, and the sun is shining for you as you reach the goals that you’ve set. The Sun is one of the cards in the tarot which provide nothing but good feelings and fulfillment.

Upright card (keywords): Enlightment, Joy, Marriage, Material happiness, Success, Vitality, confidence, truth

Reversed card (keywords): False impressions, Lack of clarity, Low Vitality, Sadness, pessimism, conceded, excessive enthusiasm

I love to see the Sun in my friends readings I know things will be turning around for them soon if not immediately. This card always brings warmth and empowerment to the questioners. Things you’ve worked for are coming to fruition. The path you are on currently is correct, stay the course.

Major Arcana 18 The Moon

The Moon is a card of illusion and deception, and therefore often suggests that something is not as it appears to be. Perhaps a misunderstanding on your part, or a truth you cannot admit to yourself. On one hand, the Moon card can symbolize the imagination is getting the best of you. In the dark of the night, taking a path that you are unsure of, there could be danger lurking in the depths. You are the crawfish embarking on the path in the card. The moon’s light can bring clarity and understanding and one should allow intuition to guide you through this darkness.
You need to be aware of the situation causing fear and anxiety in your mind, whether it is now or in the future. It alerts you not to allow disturbances and self-deception to get the best of you. These deep memories and fears must be let go, the negative energies have to be released and turned into something constructive. Another reading of the Moon card is the existence of illusions. Some hidden truth must be found out, for what you are seeing now may just be a trick of the moon light. You must search for the hidden forces that need unraveled.

Upright card (keywords): Deception, Difficult period, Fear, Hidden things, Insecurity, Mental confusion, illusion, uncertain, secrets, unconscious

Reversed card (keywords): Insomnia, Mysteries unveiled, Release of fear, Unhappiness, unusual dreams, Deception, anxiety, clarity, understanding

The Moon makes me think of difficult times ahead, things not being what they appear, and possible mental confusion. It reminds us not to take everything presented to us at face value. Even the reverse of this card is mainly unpleasant even if it brings understanding it could also bring sleepless nights, weird dreams, and heighten anxiety. Put your detective cap on and start pulling at strings to unravel the mystery.

Major Arcana 17 The Star

One of my favorite cards.

When the Star card appears, you are likely to find yourself feeling inspired. The Star brings renewed hope and a sense that you are truly blessed by the universe at this moment. The Star brings hope, renewed power, and strength to carry on. It shows how abundantly blessed you are by the universe as evidenced by the various activity around you. It may not be directly evident at this moment, because this card follows the trauma of the Tower card. Remember that you hold within yourself all that you need for fulfillment – the only thing that you need now is courage. To see this card is a message to trust that, the universe will bless you and bring forth all that is needed. To receive the Star in your reading means that you have gone and passed through a life challenge. You have managed to get through this without losing all hope. While you suffered, you perhaps were not aware of your own strength, but you are now perhaps recognizing that loss helped you discover resilience and inner power. Only now can you really appreciate all that you have.

Upright card (keywords): Astronomy, Good health, Hope, Inspiration, Opportunities, Spirituality, positivity, renewal, rejuvenation, healing

Reversed card (keywords): Despair, Disappointments, Illness, Missed opportunities, despair, negativity, despondent

The Star is my favorite major arcana card it always fills me with joy, positivity, healing, and thoughts of opportunities. I reminded of the greater strength within ourselves that is made known while we are under great distress. The Star points out to us that we have recently gotten through a life change good or bad and should celebrate a time of rejuvenation/renewal.

Major Arcana 16 The Tower

The Tower is commonly interpreted as meaning danger, crisis, destruction, and liberation. Mainly associated with sudden unforseen change. The Tower represents change in the most radical and momentous sense. But it doesn’t necessarily have to be frightening or ominous. Because at the heart of the card, its message is foundation shaking, groundbreaking change. The kind of event that the Tower card marks does not have to be something terrible, like a life disaster or loss. Change itself is a part of life that one has to learn to embrace. But it can sometimes strike fear, for it means that we must abandon truths that we have known prior to this event. The old ways are no longer serving us, and you must find another valid set of beliefs, values and processes to take their place. Be positive, it is time for you to replace the old with something that is more genuine and will serve you better in what is to come. In terms of work, there is an inevitable argument going to happen. You need to be in control and keep yourself in check. Avoid saying something that may hurt you or other people. When it comes to love life, romantic relationship may be nearing its end. Take this moment as a warning – if you really value the relationship, then it is time for you to take a damage control assessment or open a communication to clear misunderstandings. In your finances, the tower meaning refers to the need to be assured and trust your transactions.

Upright card (keywords): Accident or damage, Catastrophe, Destruction, Renovation, unexpected change

Reversed card (keywords): Illness, Losses, Obstacles, Volatile situation

Honestly when I see the Tower I think of the first killing of a dragon in Skyrim at the Western watch tower… but that’s not divination. This card makes me be on the lookout for upcoming troubles, accidents, or losses. Getting prepared for change unexpected or kinda known about in the back of your mind. If you’re in relationship trouble reassess if the relationship is what you truly want. Does it serve you anymore? In money make sure you are triple sure you want to do the transaction.

Major Arcana 15 The Devil

All that glitters is not gold.

The Devil represents being seduced by the material world and physical world pleasures. Also living in fear, domination and bondage, being caged by overabundance of luxury, discretion should be used in both personal and business ventures. Getting the devil card in your reading shows that you have feelings of entrapment, emptiness and lack of fulfillment in life. It might also mean that you’re a slave to the material and opulence and no matter how hard you try, you just can’t seem to shake off the feeling of wanting to indulge in decadent living. You might be aware that this kind of lifestyle is leading you down a dark path, but you have that feeling of not having any form of control over your actions or urges. Addiction to substances or material pleasures can also be a reason for the feelings of powerlessness and entrapment. In situations such as this, you may feel as though you are a slave, unable to control your impulses or willpower to direct yourself towards something other than satisfaction of desires.

Upright card (keywords): Bondage, Enslavement, Fear, Feeling trapped, Materialism, Temptation, unhealthy relationships, oppression, addiction, powerlessness, limits

Reversed card (keywords): Breaking from addictions, Divorce, Freedom from restraints, release, reclaiming power, getting control back

The phrase the Devil made me do it comes to mind when I see this card in a reading. To me it’s an excuse some people use for terrible behavior or acts but usually it’s clear they had self serving desires. A card that makes me feel trapped and stuck in place. This card could point to an addiction material or substance that is blocking your progress to the true self.
